Design challenge #10

Okay, just under the deadline for this week's challenge...I decided to keep it simple (read between the lines for lazy!) And, now that I've posted it, I realize that you can't tell that the embossed bamboo is tinsel green (which really stands out in person). Oh, well.

However, I'm still waaaay behind for the other weekly challenge put out by Ruth C. of OSA...

On other crafty news for me, it looks as though I'll be teaching a pysanky egg decorating class for at least 10 people next week at our local Y. So, it looks as though I'll be working on eggs, not cards for the next week (not to mention eating lots of scrambled eggs, quiches, frittatas, etc).

I am totally out of date...here's Sonia's design challenge #9

I just realized that I haven't uploaded any of my design challenge cards for three weeks. I guess the cold weather has creeped into my brain! This is for Sonia's challenge #9 and the circle is made by Shauna M. and it's one that I received in a swap...

Design Challenge #8

After skipping the challenge last week (I don't have a scallop cutter thing-y); I found I could make this week's without any problem (except for the usual of picking which papers to use). I have so many scraps on my drafting table, that I just move some aside to see what's underneath. The background for the tag is from a kleenex box - it was just too pretty to throw away.

A blue day

No cards today...I had to put our sweet puppy to sleep yesterday. She almost made it to her 14th year, but she was deteriorating so rapidly and was just beginning to be in pain from the arthritis in her joints. For such a small dog, she leaves a big hole.

Design Challenge #6

Here's my card for OSA's Design Challenge (#6); again, it was a challenge as I don't ever use half circles (or maybe I should say I just haven't yet). I switched papers so much that my table is awash with scraps. Which is OK, because I have now used this palette twice in the last month and I think these colors give the cards a masculine feel (and I can always use a card or two for guys).

Design Challenge #5

It's time for a new design challenge over on OSA, it's a tough one, too -- all those little pieces around the perimeter of the card gave me fits trying to line them up accurately! I also have fallen in love (looks like I'm the only one, too) with the color combination of green and purple. I have now made at least five cards with those colors...

Asian Card Exchange

Ruth (from OSA) created an interesting challenge for the cards we are to send out for February -- using green and purple (or maybe she means green OR purple). Anyway, since I had time this morning (I've been up since 4am -- thanks to our ancient doxie); I put together a layout that includes both colors. Although I wasn't sure about using those two colors on the same card, I found some scraps that (surprisingly) work...so, I've gone ahead and made two more of these. Now, off to the post office to mail them...

OK, I made two designs for the ACE cards...the one on the left is the one I mailed...

Challenge #4

Well, it's been a fun day working in my studio...I really like the possibilities for this particular layout. It's also a challenge using just the supplies I have laying around. (Good thing I have so much! LOL)

Changes for 2009

I've decided that this will be a good year to make some changes in my studio and my buying habits...I'm determined to use up the paper and craft supplies I already have and NOT buy new stuff. Period. I have to keep deleting 'sale' e-mails that come through the post and ignore the coupons and like from Jo-Ann's -- some of the sales are so good, though -- but, I just keep reminding myself that I already have a least one of {---} (you fill in the blank and I'll find it!). I figure that rather than try to set up too harsh or hard a goal (such as not buying supplies for a whole year), I will do this month by month. So far, so good. No new craft supplies have entered the door to my studio or my house... AND, I'm working on organizing the mess (which, of course, has resulted in a greater mess!). Arghhhhh.

Design Challenge #3

After waking to a light dusting of snow on the ground and low temperatures, I put on my thickest slippers and worked in my studio for a while trying to come up with a design for this weeks challenge...I'm not crazy about it, but it's OK.

OSA's design challenge #2

Here's my contribution for this weeks design challenge from OSA [Oriental Stamp Art]. Maybe the challenges will keep my blog more updated (I must be blog-challenged!).
